I got terribly sick, and my immune system went down.
My blood pressure dropped to below 60 (120 is normal), and I could not move. I was taken to a local clinic, where the doctors could not stabilize me. They recommended that I be taken to the Contra Costa veterinary emergency center in Concord. That was a decision that saved my life. Dr. Daryl Schawel immediately took over, did all necessary tests, and told us that I probably have Addison's disease.
The final confirmation came in the morning when a special blood test was performed.
I spent the night in the hospital, carefuly and lovingly watched by Michell and Dr. Richard Groff who posed with me for the photo before I checked out. Dr. Groff constantly kept contact with my family, and called a few times to ask how was I doing. This place is something else. Not only is the staff super professional, responsive and friendly, they are humans! (In the highest sense of the word)
My disease is manageable and I will be OK with taking medications. Thank you Contra Costa Veterinary, thank you Dr. Schawel, thank you Dr. Groff, thanks everybody that helped me to recover and be with my family again.
