I'm dissapointed with the Health Department in Akron, Ohio. Theres a house at 575 Bertha Ave, Akron, Ohio that was condemned on Febuary 17th 2008. I have also tried to find out who is responsible for the property, as well as contact the Mayor,to no avail. This place is full of garbage left by previous tenants which has caused an infestation of rats and cockroaches in the neighborhood. In fact my pet cat was attacked by a rat in our back yard this summer. My home and my neighbors homes became infested with roaches and I have had to spend hundreds of dollars on exterminators, not to mention the vet bill. My other concern is the fact that we have seen a homeless man entering the unsecure premises. With winter coming I fear that this place may become a fire hazard.

Please upload your complaint to the webiste. Viewers will be able to click the "take action" link and choose your city's health dept., who will get your complaint in an email, the more viewers "take action", the more emails your city's health dept., will get.

I bet you if the mayor lived on that street - they would quickly take care of things!

It's unbelieveable. You should send letters to the State health commissioner, to the fire chief and other agencies responsible for health and fire hazard. Also post your complaint on the site. there is a "take action button" that can be used to send the complaint directly to Authorities. The site will provide the links once the complaint is posted. I have done the same in California, it worked.

Funny how sometimes local authoroties will take their sweet time implementing much needed city services in some areas of town while rushing to complete the job in others. Shame on you

I cannot agree with you more about the vacant house and HUD's reaction is abosolutly noteworthy exponentially to the worst. Being infested by vermin and insects that are the responsibility of the VECTOR CONTROL within the city just like with mosquitos and dead birds. I hope it's the same in your state. Avian bird disease goes hand in hand with other diseases.

The city of Antioch, CA. has some crew running around neighborhoods assessing what they call "Against City Regulation" like the trash cans are supposed to be out of site from the street(?). Well, hell, I live in a neighborhood where all of the houses are basically duplexs and the space between each house(?) is less than 10' from one another. Where can(pun) you put the cans? They're always sending out notices that you are in violation of AHC 234 et... What can a person do with a city who reacts unjust like that?
